Following the birth of their second second daughter Abigail, Erika and Stephen Jones received news that no parent should ever hear…Born with Down Syndrome, doctors discovered an inoperable brain tumour in their beautiful new born girl, shortly after she entered this world. With no way to treat the tumour, Erika and Stephen were left with some very difficult choices…
Rather than dwell in sadness at the fate of their daughter, the young parents decided to show Abigail as much love as humanly possible during her short time on earth. They spent every waking moment with Abigail, showering her with love, hugs and kisses.
Even with their positive outlook on the situation, the Jones family still feel bouts of pain at their daughters situation. They say that experience has helped them to see how much of a gift life truly is and that we should never take it for granted. They say that every moment with Abigail has filled them with joy and that will always cherish their time with her.
“When a loved one relies on you for support in the midst of an illness, hold on to the Lord. When hope feels beyond reach, stay the course. When fear overwhelms, turn to Scripture. And when exhaustion sets in, trust in God for strength”. Psalm 46:1 (GNTD)
God is our shelter and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
